Make Earth Day Our Green Khutbah Day!

MAKE THIS EARTH DAY GREEN KHUTBAH DAY: 19th April 2013

I've been waiting for a few years now to ensure our mosque community is ready to hear an all-Green #EcoIslam Khutbah, and truth be told, I kept delaying it, mostly because there's no-one here in Yorkshire, England willing to read out what Islam says about the environment. But, this month insha-Allah, I'm joining Khaleafa.com and prepping a short 10 minute Khutbah on #EcoIslam at our mosque.

The annual ‘Green Khutbah Campaign’ has been scheduled for Friday, April 19 2013, Insha-Allah, to coincide with Earth Day 2013.

The ‘Green Khutbah Campaign’ is aiming to challenge Muslims to become stewards of the environment by making changes to their daily routines.

Although the evidence of environmental damage is stronger than ever, the public is starting to tune out due to the recent economic crisis and a lack of political leadership.

This year’s ‘Green Khutbah Campaign’ challenge is to request all Muslims to commit to the 3 C action plan:
          1) Consume less,
          2) Conserve more and
          3) Care for the environment
