Hi. I just found your website while looking for Ramadan meal ideas. My husband and I are both vegetarians mainly for health reasons. It is also just more sensible due to the astronomical prices of meat in Egypt. Your website looks fantastic and I am looking forward to reading more from you. Blessed Ramadan and Happy Eid to you.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Rasulallah going vegetarian for Ramadan, and he was perfection. He did once gently remind those who wanted to do better/more than him by praying more, that he himself is the best among men, and explained extremism is not good in anything.
ReplyDeleteMeat eaters going vegetarian for Ramadan only are extremists. Maybe even somewhat radical? This is not an Islamic practice. Islam is perfect as it is.

Ive been vegetarian for 27 years now. Didnt change when i became a muslim. Mass meat production is very bad for the environment. Back in the Prophets day (pbuh) they wouldnt have been killing millions of animals a day for huge meat consumption. Moderation in all things i reckon, if you eat meat.
ReplyDeleteDont be a vegetarian then, but dont call Muslim vegetarians extremists, thats just uncalled for. I just 'converted' to vegetarianism two months ago and find it an excellent lifestyle choice as it is healthier and I am not part of the mass killing of animals. And to make individual choices doesnt affect Islam, nor does it change it. so back of lady! :P
ReplyDeleteI said "I have never heard of Rasulallah going vegetarian for Ramadan, and he was perfection."
ReplyDeletePlease don't be extreme and take offence at what I didn't say. I said nothing of vegetarians themselves, which would include you, but rightfully said "I have never heard of Rasulallah going vegetarian for Ramadan".This is not Islam.
So I'm not on your back to back off if you're a vegetarian :)
ReplyDeleteMy response was for meat eaters going vegetarian for Ramadan in the name of religion, but then going back to meat afterwards. (BTW your comment was moderated.)
Okay. I know i asked for it to be moderated because of a spelling error.
