Day 1: Bedrooms.

As Ramadan approaches, it is time to prepare our homes and hearts for this blessed month.
Our teachers tell us, pair the on-going grief you see with the joy of Ramadan. Grief and joy, they never stay, they will fleetingly move on. The Sahabah and RasoolAllah taught us this in their moments of sadness and happiness. Therefore, let's remember the destination.

This exciting feature is 1 of 4 packed guides, focusing on how to get your bedroom Ramadan ready. Bedrooms are often overlooked during this preparation process, but they play a crucial role in setting the right ambiance for the holy month.

Begin upstairs
Start your Ramadan preparation from the top of your house and work your way down. This systematic approach ensures that no area is neglected.

Marie Kondo Everything
Marie Kondo, a renowned organising consultant, advises us to only keep items that spark joy. This Ramadan, apply the Marie Kondo method to your bedroom.

Fold, hang, or roll up your clothes and belongings neatly. This will not only make your room look organized but also make it easier for you to find things when you need them.;

Ask Yourself 3 Questions
While tidying up, ask yourself the following questions:
  1. Does this remind me of Allah?
  2. Can I use it to develop my faith?
  3. Can I use it after Ramadan?&
If the answer to any of these questions is no, then it's time to let it go.

Donate It
If you haven’t worn an item in 6 months, if it needs alterations, or if you imagine it’ll fit after the gym, consider donating it. This act of giving not only declutters your space but also benefits those in need.

Prepare Your Ramadan Outfits
  • Match 8 outfits
  • Iron 9 suits (consider work), and
  • Prepare 10 Salah outfits in advance.
This preparation will save you time during Ramadan, allowing you to focus on your prayers and fasting.;
Remember, this is for Allah and not for others, so always aim to feel your best self.
Convert Your Room into a Prayer Space
Set up a prayer corner in your room and hang up lights to create a peaceful atmosphere. You can even use the spare room as a family Salah space.

Organising the house with family or friends makes the task more enjoyable and less daunting.

Define the Purpose of Your Bedroom
Decide the function of your bedroom. Will it be a place for Zikr, sleep, or binging social media? You could also consider fasting from tech for 30 days to truly immerse yourself in the Ramadan spirit.

Final Touches
Add some Oud and plants to your bedroom to enhance its ambiance. Have your Suhoor PJs ready and hang up a prayer chart to keep track of your prayers. These small touches will make your room truly Ramadan ready.

Clean Your House in 4 days for Ramadan
Finally, dedicate four days to deep clean your house. This thorough cleanse will ensure that your home is ready for Ramadan.

Remember, a clean and organised environment is conducive to peace and tranquillity, which is essential during Ramadan. With these tips, your bedroom will be Ramadan ready in no time.

Also, the goal is not Instagram perfection (it's all fake), but creating a space that encourages spiritual growth and peace.

Salam!
