YAYY! I'm very excited to announce the launch of the world's first community Green Up! Toolkit, designed by Britain's greenest Muslims. Free up your last Nov Saturday and join us! All attendees get a free copy.
As-salamu`alaykum!
I'm sure I've spoken about MADE In Europe enough times now so you'll know how much I love what they do. (if this is your first read: they're a London-based Muslim activism group that do brilliant work in social welfare, environment and to end poverty, as in really end it).
After two years of research and meetings MADE has produced a world-first green mosque guide under their banner. It began as an idea to help British communities green up their buildings and is now the only kit of its kind, a blueprint of green instructions for mosques, universities and groups across Europe.
The Green Up! Toolkit features an eco-award mosque scheme. This means that when your mosque makes a pledge to become a more sustainable place of worship using the guide, it will be rewarded with recognition. People across Britain will know your mosque is an eco one and the kit has plenty of precedents to prove #EcoIslam is totally do-able (look out for our very own Huddersfield Eco-Mosque!)
We do hope that you will join us for this exciting opportunity to hear from some of the world’s leading Islamic speakers about the forgotten Sunnah of our role as stewards (Khalifah) of the earth. - MADE In EuropeFamillar faces such as Julie Siddiqi (Executive Director of Islamic Society of Britain), Shaykh Abdal-Hakim Murad Winters (Cambridge) and Farooq Murad (Sec. General of the Muslim Council of Britain) have all contributed to the publishing of this book, so it's got good backup. Ma-sha-Allah.
But the book is just half the good news. On the same evening our esteemed Shaykh Shams Ad-Duha and eco-Muslimah Myriam Francois (and others) will be present as keynote speakers, telling us the Sunnah-style to simple living and reviving forgotten prophetic actions (Sunnan). I'm telling you they'e like green Muslim celebrities. You really wouldn't want to miss this.
Date: Saturday, 30th November 2013
Time: 4pm-7.15pm
Venue: The event will take place at the stunning Ecology Pavillion set in the picturesque lakes of Mile End Park in London. (Mile end, Haverfield Road off Grove Road, London E3 5TW, United Kingdom)
