Halal in Russia is 'Good Food'

Halal (Arabic: حلال, halāl; meaning lawful or legal) is a recognised global term for the goodness and usefulness for people in certain foods, beverages, cosmetics and perfumes, clothing, medical and any other goods and services, whether it's financial transactions and recreation, or simple interaction and relationships between people.

Halal in Russia is more than halal. Only 30 years ago the mainly ethnic Muslim minorities in Russia knew what "halal" was all about and it meant to them that only zabiha meat could be consumed. In the 90's halal sausages appeared in grocery shops and the 'meat-eating vegetarian' lifestyle quickly developed.

Later, in 21st century, the Russians learned that the "halal" is applicable to more than only meat. For Muslims, halal is a health and spiritual code used to categories all food products, perfumery, cosmetics, clothes and medicines, equipment and services, and in general - anything beneficial that is used for the physical, intellectual and social health of people.

Nowadays the word "halal" is a sign for not only Muslims. Most European supermarkets have special departments where you can find halal products and Russia has become an active importer and exporter of halal goods and services. What attracts Russian consumers in halal products? It is the same thing which is attracting their colleagues around the world: Products of this category are of high quality and safety guaranteed. "Halal" has become synonymous to the phrase "good food".

Halal products are in great demand from among buyers of different denominations - for everybody who cares about health. That is why Moscow's 2012 International Halal Expo have coined the catch phrase "Halal in Russia is more than halal."

Halal has become not only a fashion, but a world-wide trend and a way of life for many people in Russia.
