There are very few organisations that really connect with the average Muslim. Few can 'take your breath away'. But I do believe The Leaf Network does.

A British based community organisation, The Leaf Network was primarily set up to support young Muslims by recruiting and training them with the skills they need to become the great leaders they can be. It's already established for itself a beautifully spiritual program of projects, working with organic Muslim farms, training activists and organising the Student Village at the Living Islam festival.

The most inspiring aspect of The Leaf Network is in its values. Stemming from humble ground, it "speaks" to an old grumpy eco-Muslim like me, but it's fresh, vibrant and rejuvenating to see Muslims building their communities.

Here's what the team say,
"The leaf is the site where light is turned into energy to fuel the life of a tree. It is how the tree quite literally 'takes a breather' and refreshes our atmosphere with oxygen. A network of countless leaves power the tree allowing it to capture light, grow, become a home for birds and a shade for travellers. The leaf in its humbleness 'dies': with the autumn fall it is returned to the earth to be recycled, and in doing so, in abdicating its position, it allows a new leaf to take its place. It does this in auburn splendour with the grace of a floating angel. It is a symbol of light, of producing energy, of a network of service, and a symbol of renewal.
Now, that is a tree you'd want to hug.
