FINAL CALL: The awesome multi-faith enviro-guys at GreenFaith are sharing a FREE webinar to introduce potential green deen lovers like YOU to their Fellowship Program. Even if you think it's not your thing, check it out and pass it on!

Friday, June 01 is the annual application deadline for the GreenFaith Fellowship Program, an 18-month, interfaith education and training program for religious-environmental leaders.

When you register (free) for the webinar this month, you'll be told about applying for the program. So I say register for the webinar even if you can’t attend online, GreenFaith will send you a link to the webinar recording to watch at your leisure.

What is the Fellowship Program?
It's basically a training program. You come as you are, and receive custom-made tutoring of how to green up and spark action in your home towns.

Currently, 115 leaders – from the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Unitarian traditions – make up the Fellowship community. How bloody awesome is that?! They’re from 35 states, 3 Canadian Provinces, and throughout Europe.

What can GreenFaith Fellows do?
  • Deepen their knowledge and skills as religious-environmental leaders
  • Attend three retreats of four days length on themes of spirituality, stewardship and justice in relation to the Earth
  • Write an eco-theological statement that connects personal experience, spiritual traditions, and the natural world
  • Participate in monthly webinars where they engage with cutting-edge leaders
  • Carry out a leadership project tailored for their own setting
  • Connect with the emerging and established leaders of the religious-environmental movement
I think it's brilliant that when you register, you'll automatically be given guidance and ideas on how to implement eco-leadership in your community even if the whole program is out of your reach. This is very important for British mosques which are introducing environmental Islam more into their educational curriculum.

The only downfall I can see is the hefty tuition fees of the Fellowship, about $1500. But because it is a long program and e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g is included, it's worth it.

Fellows have given the program high marks. Here are some of their comments.
The Fellowship has given me the confidence to step forward as a Jewish environmental leader. Tapping into the support and expertise of the other fellows has reinvigorated my personal ethic of stewardship, helping me to model a more sustainable lifestyle and to support others in doing so.
- Rabbi Nathan Martin, Director of Student Life, Reconstructionist Rabbinical College
The Program helped get me up to speed on the current literature and thinking about environmental issues, helped me explore the connection between spirituality and the environment and provided training and coaching to give me the leadership skills necessary to work effectively.
- Archdeacon Betsy Bennett, Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska

The webinar to introduce the Fellowship Program to potential applicants is on Thursday, March 21 from 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET. That's 1am UK time. I think.

From the GreenFaith team and myself, I hope you'll join the webinar and share what you've learnt.
