This is a recycled paperchain I made using research photography books. While there are truckloads of beautiful ready-made Ramadan decorations available to buy in-store or assemble, using existing scrapbook papers or printed papers means you're taking a more eco-efficient path to family traditions.

Here's how I made mine.

1. Use the most colourful pages you can find. Take out the research pages to your old coursework files, cut out pages from mehndi pattern books, use old photographs or tear out pages from a design magazine.
2. Cut these pages into strips, 1 inch x 7 inches long.
3. Glue each strip end to the other end to create a ring.
4. Then glue all the rings of paper to one another; tip: use a paperclip to hold in place.

5. Thread a needle and push it through the inside of the paper rings end-to-end with enough thread at either side to hang. Tip: use coloured yarn to tie the paper chain outdoors.

May Allah make your last few of Ramadan productive and peaceful.
