The March 2012 report "The Sharia-Conscious Consumer Driving Demand" by Economist Intelligence Unit mentions that "From food and Islamic finance, the industry is spreading its wings into pharmaceuticals, fashion and tourism, among many other areas. But given the global nature of the business, the industry will grow at varying speeds in different regions, while certain segments will garner more attention than others".
I was in Asda and even they dedicated Eid Mubarak banners for their Muslim customers. Nice!

The Muslim Travel expenditure alone was USD 126 Billion in 2011 and set to grow faster than the global travel average during the next 10 years. By 2020, this segment of travelers will be spending USD 192 Billion a year.

While Britain has been slow to wake up to this new consumer trend, other countries are already reaping the economic rewards of serving Muslim needs.
