Imagine a Russian prison. Imagine what goes in. Imagine what comes out. Trash? Nope.

Heavy Eco is a one of a kind social action cause that provides inmates in European prisons the materials to earn a new respect.

Advertising billboards, PVC bags, and organic cotton sourced from India are the basic tools given to prisoners, who in turn put creativity to work. Messengers bags, iPad bags and  tshirts are churned out and sold online - some really wicked stuff.
"Can something good and ethical come out of an Eastern European jail? We believe so... There is something symbolic in taking used advertising billboards, that show us the good life and our dreams and giving these to jailbirds who are on the other end of life's spectrum. These jailbirds are applying their harsh reality and dark minds to create innovative eco fashion.' - Heavy Eco

The Heavy Eco site does not state which prison (zona in Russian) is used, but the convicts have the 'freedom' to choose patterns and styles so the products they make are completely unique.

Inmates produce messenger bags, Mac sleeves, tshirts and men’s boxers made of 100% organic cotton (GOTS certified)

Each prisoner is paid as a respected artesian and the success lead Heavy Eco to the Japanese Fashion week in Tokyo.

Heavy Eco show that just because someone seems to be useless doesn't mean they don't have a productive future. To invest in future generations Heavy Eco donate 50% of profits to help the homeless youth and orphaned children.

Now that's heavy.
