EcoMuslim is a person who passionately cares about the conservation and well being of the environment. The values and teaching of Islam contained in the Qur’an and Sunnah provide the basis for an EcoMuslim’s belief and passion. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) preserved nature, beauty and the environment. The Prophet (pbuh) exemplified reasonable consumption, taught and left many teachings for humanity to live an eco-responsible existence. The EcoMuslim lives an eco-responsible life and influences other to do the same. Every person is a potential EcoMuslim.
The year 2010 has been a busy for EcoMuslim (the organisation). EcoMuslim was invited at a number of events and we:
- Spoke at Royal Holloway College and at the Faith Regeneration Seminar in February
- Participated at the Religions and Human Future Expert Hearing, Berlin in March
- Presented at the World Islamic Economic Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May
- Visited Islamic University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur in May
- Spoke at the Kazan Summit, Tartarstan in June
- Participated at the Muslim World Leadership Forum, London in October
- Participated at the First Arab European Young Leaders Forum, Vienna in November
- Delivered countless environmentally focused sermons during Friday Jummah prayers
- Attended many Ambassadorial functions in London
Upon arrival of every New Year, most of us make resolutions, in 2011 we aspire to:
- Produce a Green Guide
- Hold seminars, workshops and social events
- Continue to deliver environmentally focused sermons and speeches
- Continue to participate at national and international events
- Continue to build bridges, strategic partnerships, raise awareness, support for EcoMuslim and expand our reach
- Become a stronger brand
You could become involved by:
- Reducing your water, energy and food consumption
- Turning off the tap when not using water, for example not running the tap whilst brushing your teeth, have a short shower rather than a bath, collect rain water for watering your garden, use less water for ablution
- Supporting our activities
- Attending and sponsoring our events
- Writing for the EcoMuslim blog
- Telling others about EcoMuslim
- Forwarding your email contacts
- Inviting EcoMuslim to address your events
- Advertising on the EcoMuslim website
May 2011 fulfil your dreams, hopes, bring joy and prosperity!
Best wishes
The EcoMuslim Team
